Тонга, офіційно Королівство Тонга, є полінезійською суверенною державою та архіпелагом, що складається з 176 островів, площею близько 750 квадратних кілометрів, розкиданих понад 700 000 квадратних кілометрів південного Тихого океану, з яких 52 населяють 103 000 чоловік. Тонга простягається приблизно на 800 кілометрів у північно-південній лінії приблизно на третину від Нової Зеландії до Гаваїв. Він оточений Фіджі, Уолліс і Футуна на північний захід, Самоа на північний схід, Ніуе на сході, Кермадец на південний захід, а також Нова Каледонія і Вануату на заході.
