Нерозвинені нації характеризуються великою невідповідністю між їх багатими та бідними популяціями та нездоровим балансом торгівлі. Симптоми недостатнього розвитку включають брак доступу до робочих місць, охорону здоров'я, питну воду, харчування, освіту та житло. Більшість африканських країн, розташованих на південь від Сахари, залишаються в основному слаборозвиненими - вулиця Дакар, Сенегал.
