Євген Вігнер
Євген Павло "Є. П." Вігнер, був угорським американським теоретичним фізиком і математиком. Він отримав частку Нобелівської премії з фізики в 1963 році "за його внесок у теорію атомного ядра та елементарних часток, зокрема через відкриття та застосування основних принципів симетрії"; іншу половину нагороди розділила Марія Гепперт-Майєр та Дж. Ганс Д. Дженсен. Вигнер відрізняється тим, що заклав основи для теорії симетрії в квантовій механіці, а також для його дослідження структури атомного ядра. Це був Євген Вігнер, який вперше виявив "отруєння" Xe-135 у ядерних реакторах, і з цієї причини його іноді називають отруєнням Вігнера. Вігнер також важливий для своєї роботи в чистій математиці, написавши ряд теорем. Зокрема, теорема Вігнера є наріжним каменем у математичній постановці квантової механіки.
