Рік - орбітальний період Землі, що рухається по орбіті навколо Сонця. Для спостерігача на Землі це відповідає періоду, протягом якого Солнце займає один курс по зодіаку вздовж екліптики. У астрономії джуліанський рік є одиницею часу, що визначається як 365,25 дні з 86400 секунд SI кожна. Немає загальноприйнятого символу року як одиниці часу. Міжнародна система одиниць не пропонує її.
