多粘菌素B是土壤中需氧菌产生的抗生素物质，具有多肽结构，抗菌谱窄，几乎选择性作用于革兰氏阴性菌。 它像青霉素一样对杀菌力起作用。 口服和肌注可迅速吸收，但排泄相对较晚。 临床上，几乎所有其他抗生素都可用于无效铜绿假单胞菌引起的感染。 有许多副作用，包括肾衰竭，感知和神经紊乱。 폴리믹신B 토양중의 호기성균이 생성하는 항생물질로 폴리펩티드의 구조를 가지며 항균 스펙트럼이 좁고 거의 선택적으로 그람음성균에만 작용하는 것이 특색이다. 페니실린과 같은 살균력에 작용한다. 경구 및 근육주사로 신속하게 흡수되는데 배설은 비교적 늦다. 임상적으로는 다른 항생물질의 거의 대부분이 무효인 녹농균에 의한 감염에 대해서 유용하다. 부작용은 상당히 많아 신장장애, 지각장애, 신경장애 등이 있다.
