作为橄榄球对决赛中半场后卫的一员，＆nbsp;是一名有效移动四分之三线的球员。 在出现混乱或线路状况的情况下，通过从半场攻击球并将球传递给中锋或边路球起到关键作用。 也被称为外部一半。 스탠드오프 럭비 경기에서 하프백스(half backs)의 일원으로, 스리쿼터라인(three-quarter line)을 효과적으로 움직이게 하는 플레이어이다. 스크럼(scrum)이나 라인아웃(line out) 상황에서 스크럼하프(scrum half)로부터 공을 연결받아 센터(center)나 윙(wing)에게 패스함으로써 공격의 중추적인 역할을 담당한다. 아웃사이드하프(outside half)라고도 한다.
