সন্ন্যাসাত্মকতা বা সন্ন্যাসধারী জীবন একটি ধর্মীয় উপায় যা একটি আধ্যাত্মিক কাজ নিজেকে সম্পূর্ণরূপে উত্সর্গ করার জন্য পার্থিব pursuits sheds। বহু খ্রিষ্টীয় গীর্জাগুলিতে বিশেষ করে ক্যাথলিক ও অর্থোডক্সের ঐতিহ্যের মধ্যে মন্দিরে জীবন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে। অন্যান্য ধর্মের অনুরূপ ধার্মিক জীবনও একই রকম রয়েছে, বিশেষ করে বৌদ্ধধর্মের মধ্যেও, হিন্দুধর্ম ও জৈনধর্মের মধ্যেও। একজন মঠের জীবনযাপনের শিকার পুরুষরা সাধারণত সন্ন্যাসী বলে থাকে, যখন নারীর নিষ্ঠুরদেরকে নান বলা হয়। অনেক সন্ন্যাসী ও নান ধর্মনিরপেক্ষ বিশ্বের কাছ থেকে দূরে থাকার জন্য মঠে বাস করেন। খ্রিস্টীয় ঐতিহ্যের মধ্যে আলাদা আলাদা আলাদা আলাদা বিষয় রয়েছে। সাধারণ নিয়ম হিসাবে, রোমান ক্যাথলিকবাদ, বৌদ্ধধর্মে এবং নানদেরকে ভাই বা বোন বলা হয়, অথচ অর্থডক্স খ্রিস্টীয়তায় তাদের বাবা বা মা নামে ডাকা হয়।
