Anglesey
Anglesey oder Ynys Môn ist eine Insel vor der Nordwestküste von Wales. Zwei Brücken erstrecken sich über die Menai-Straße und verbinden sie mit dem Festland: die Menai-Hängebrücke, die von Thomas Telford im Jahre 1826 und der Britannia-Brücke entworfen wurde. Früher Teil von Gwynedd, Anglesey, Holy Island und anderen kleineren Inseln bilden jetzt die Isle of Anglesey County. Fast drei Viertel der Einwohner sind walisische Sprecher und Ynys Môn, der walisische Name für die Insel, wird für die Wahlbezirke des britischen Parlaments und der Nationalversammlung verwendet. Mit einer Fläche von 714 Quadratkilometern ist Anglesey die größte walisische Insel, die fünftgrößte umliegende Großbritannien und die größte in der Irischen See.
