Attis
Attis war die Gemahlin von Cybele in der phrygischen und griechischen Mythologie. Seine Priester waren Eunuchen, die Galli, wie durch Ursprung Mythen in Bezug auf Attis und Kastration erklärt. Attis war auch ein phrygischer Gott der Vegetation, und in seiner Selbstverstümmelung, Tod und Auferstehung stellt er die Früchte der Erde dar, die im Winter nur im Frühjahr wieder auferstehen. Die Identifizierung des 19. Jahrhunderts mit dem Namen Atys, der in Herodot als der historische Name des Sohnes des Croesus angetroffen wurde, als "Atys der Sonnengott, der durch den Winter des Winters getötet wurde", irren sich.
