Blauer Kabeljau
Blue cod, Parapercis colias, ist ein gemäßigter Meeresfisch der Familie Pinguipedidae. Es ist auch anders bekannt als Boston Blue Cod, Neuseeland Kabeljau, Sand Barsch oder seine Māori Namen rawaru und pakirikiri. Es ist ausschliesslich in Neuseeland in flachen Gewässern um die felsigen Küsten bis zu einer Tiefe von 150 m zu finden, obwohl es weit häufiger südlich von Cook Strait ist. Es ist bläulich grün bis blau schwarz oben mit weiß zum Bauch. Große Beispiele sind in der Regel grünlichblau in der Färbung, während kleinere in verschiedenen Schattierungen von Braun fleckig sind. Es ist ein molliger Fisch, der gute Filets produziert, aber er hat einen sehr niedrigen Ölgehalt. Es kann serviert werden, zerknittert, pan-fried oder gebacken. Es ist eine wichtige Freizeitart auf der Südinsel und wird kommerziell geerntet.
