Die Bokmakierie ist ein Buschschlag. Diese Familie von Passerine Vögel ist eng mit den wahren Schreinen in der Familie Laniidae verwandt und war einmal in dieser Gruppe eingeschlossen. Diese Art ist endemisch im südlichen Afrika, vor allem in Südafrika und Namibia, mit einer isolierten Bevölkerung in den Bergen von Ost-Simbabwe und West-Mosambik. Es ist eine Art von offenen Lebensräumen, darunter Karosso-Peeling, Fynbos und Parks und Gärten in städtischen Gebieten. Das sperrige Cup-Nest ist in einer Hecke, Strauch oder Baumgabel gebaut. Die 2-6, meist drei, rotbraunen oder lilac-fleckigen grünlich-blauen Eier werden von beiden Geschlechtern für etwa 16 Tage zum Schlüpfen inkubiert, mit weiteren 18 Tagen bis zur Flucht. Die erwachsene Bokmakierie ist ein 22-23 cm langer Vogel mit olivgrünen Oberteilen und eine auffällige, helle gelbe Spitze zum schwarzen Schwanz. Der Kopf ist grau mit einem gelben Supercilium, und die starke Rechnung hat einen gehangenen Oberkiefer. Die Unterteile sind hellgelb mit einem breiten schwarzen Kragen zwischen Hals und Brust, der die Nacken-Seiten durch das Auge zur Rechnung fortsetzt. Die Beine und Füße sind blau-grau. Die Geschlechter sind ähnlich, aber Jugendliche sind ein dumpf grau-grün unten, und fehlt der schwarze Gorget.
