Die Cassock oder Soutane ist ein Gegenstand der christlichen klerikalen Kleidung, die von den Klerikern der römisch-katholischen, östlich-orthodoxen, anglikanischen und reformierten Kirchen verwendet wird. "Knöchel-Länge Kleidungsstück" ist die wörtliche Bedeutung des entsprechenden lateinischen Begriffs, vestis talaris. Es ist verwandt mit der Gewohnheit, die traditionell von Nonnen, Mönchen und Brüdern getragen wird. Die Cassock leitet sich historisch von der Tunika ab, die im alten Rom unter der Toga getragen wurde, und der Chiton, der unter der Haltung im alten Griechenland getragen wurde. In religiösen Diensten ist es traditionell unter den Gewändern getragen worden, wie die Alb. Im Westen ist die Cassock heute wenig genutzt, außer für religiöse Dienste; Aber in vielen Ländern war es die normale alltägliche Abnutzung des Klerus bis zur zweiten Hälfte des 20.
