Das Vieh
Vieh sind die häufigste Art von großen domestizierten Huftiere. Sie sind ein prominentes modernes Mitglied der Unterfamilie Bovinae, sind die am weitesten verbreiteten Arten der Gattung Bos und werden am häufigsten als Bos primigenius klassifiziert. Rinder werden als Viehbestand für Fleisch, als Milchprodukte für Milch und andere Milchprodukte und als Zugtiere angehoben. Weitere Produkte sind Leder und Mist für Dünger oder Treibstoff. Von so wenigen wie 80 Vorfahren domestiziert in Südost-Türkei vor etwa 10.500 Jahren, sind schätzungsweise 1,3 Milliarden Rinder in der Welt heute. Im Jahr 2009 wurde Rinder das erste Vieh Tier, um ein vollständig zugeordnetes Genom zu haben.
