Kausalität ist die Beziehung zwischen einem Ereignis und einem zweiten Ereignis, wo das zweite Ereignis als Folge des ersten verstanden wird. Die philosophische Behandlung zum Thema Kausalität erstreckt sich über Jahrtausende. In der westlichen philosophischen Tradition reicht die Diskussion zumindest an Aristoteles zurück, und das Thema bleibt ein Grundnahrungsmittel in der zeitgenössischen Philosophie.
