Paliurus spina-christi
Paliurus spina-christi, allgemein bekannt als Jerusalem Thorn, Garland Thorn, Christus Thorn oder Dornenkrone, ist eine Art von Paliurus, der in den Mittelmeerraum und Südwesten und Zentralasien, von Marokko und Spanien Ost bis Iran und Tadschikistan, geboren ist. Es ist ein Laubbäume oder ein kleiner Baum, der auf 3-4 m hoch wird. Die Triebe sind zickzackig, mit einem Blatt und zwei Stippen Stacheln auf der Außenseite jedes Knicks. Die Blätter sind oval, 2-5 cm lang und 1-4 cm breit, glänzend grün, mit einer ganzen Marge. Die Frucht ist ein trockenes, holziges Nutlet, das in einem kreisförmigen Flügel von 2-3,5 cm Durchmesser zentriert ist. Der Name spiegelt eine alte Legende, dass die stacheligen Zweige verwendet wurden, um die Dornenkrone auf Christi Kopf vor seiner Kreuzigung zu stellen. Es wird als eine ornamentale Neugier angesehen und wird in einigen Bereichen, die seine Reichweite, einschließlich Fidschi, angebaut.
