Konfabulation

In der Psychologie ist die Konfabulation eine Gedächtnisstörung, die als die Produktion von gefertigten, verzerrten oder fehlinterpretierten Erinnerungen an sich selbst oder die Welt definiert ist, ohne die bewusste Absicht zu täuschen. Konfabulation unterscheidet sich vom Lügen, da es keine Absicht gibt zu täuschen und die Person ist nicht bewusst, dass die Informationen falsch sind. Obwohl Einzelpersonen eklatant falsche Informationen präsentieren können, kann die Konfabulation auch kohärent, intern konsistent und relativ normal sein. Einzelpersonen, die Gegenwart falsche Erinnerungen von "subtilen Wechsel zu bizarren Fertigungen" vertreten, und sind in der Regel sehr zuversichtlich über ihre Erinnerungen, trotz widersprüchlicher Beweise. Die meisten bekannten Fälle von Konfabulation sind symptomatisch für Hirnschäden oder Demenzen, wie Aneurysma, Alzheimer-Krankheit oder Wernicke-Korsakoff-Syndrom. Zwei Arten von Konfabulation werden oft unterschieden: Provokierte Konfabulationen stellen eine normale Antwort auf ein fehlerhaftes Gedächtnis dar, sind sowohl bei Amnesie als auch bei Demenz üblich und können bei Gedächtnistests sichtbar werden. Spontane Konfabulationen treten nicht als Reaktion auf ein Stichwort auf und scheinen unfreiwillig zu sein.
