Daten sind ein Satz von Werten von qualitativen oder quantitativen Variablen; Angepasst, Daten sind einzelne Informationen. Experimentelle Daten beziehen sich auf Daten, die im Rahmen einer wissenschaftlichen Untersuchung durch Beobachtung und Aufzeichnung erzeugt werden. Die Wortdaten sind die traditionelle Pluralform des jetzt archaischen Datums, der Neutrale Partizip des Lateinischen, "zu geben", also "etwas gegeben".
