Dissoziation (Chemie)

Die Dissoziation in Chemie und Biochemie ist ein allgemeiner Prozeß, bei dem sich ionische Verbindungen in kleinere Partikel, Ionen oder Reste, meist reversibel, voneinander trennen oder teilen. Wenn zum Beispiel eine Brønsted-Lowry-Säure in Wasser gegeben wird, wird eine kovalente Bindung zwischen einem elektronegativen Atom und einem Wasserstoffatom durch heterolytische Spaltung gebrochen, was ein Proton und ein negatives Ion ergibt. Dissoziation ist das Gegenteil von Assoziation und Rekombination. Der Prozess wird häufig mit Ionisation verwechselt.
