Duiker
Ein Duiker / daɪkər / ist eine kleine bis mittelgroße Antilope aus Subsahara-Afrika. Die 22 vorhandenen Arten bilden die Unterfamilie Cephalophinae. Der Name kommt aus dem holländischen Wort für Taucher, der sich auf ihre Praxis des Tauchens in Tangles von Gebüsch bezieht. Duikers sind in zwei Gruppen aufgeteilt, die auf ihrem Lebensraum basieren: Wald- und Busch-Duiker Alle Waldarten bewohnen die Regenwälder von Afrika südlich der Sahara, während der einzige bekannte Buschduucher, der graue, gemeinsame Duiker, Savannen einnimmt. In tropischen Regenwaldzonen Afrikas jagen die Menschen nicht selektiv Duikers für Pelz, Fleisch und Hörner zu höchst unhaltbaren Preisen.
