Entasis
In der Architektur ist entasis die Anwendung einer konvexen Kurve auf eine Oberfläche für ästhetische Zwecke. Sein bekanntester Gebrauch ist in bestimmten Ordnungen von klassischen Säulen, die sich leicht krümmen, wenn ihr Durchmesser von unten nach unten verringert wird. In der hellenistischen Periode sind einige Säulen mit Entasis zylindrisch in ihren unteren Teilen. Einige römische Säulen sind "zigarrenförmig", mit dem breitesten Punkt etwas Abstand über dem Fuß. Das Wort stammt aus dem griechischen Wort εντείνω, "sich zu dehnen oder zu dehnen".
