Pierre de Fermat war ein französischer Anwalt am Parlement von Toulouse, Frankreich, und ein Amateur-Mathematiker, der für frühe Entwicklungen, die zu Infinitesimal-Kalkül, einschließlich seiner Technik der Angemessenheit geführt haben, gegeben ist.
