Zerbrechliches X-Syndrom
Zerbrechliches X-Syndrom, auch bekannt als Martin-Bell-Syndrom oder Escalante-Syndrom, ist ein genetisches Syndrom, das die am weitesten verbreitete Single-Gen-Ursache für Autismus und erbliche Ursache der intellektuellen Behinderung vor allem bei Jungen ist. Es resultiert in einem Spektrum von intellektuellen Behinderungen, die von leichten bis hin zu schweren sowie physikalischen Eigenschaften wie einem langgestreckten Gesicht, großen oder vorspringenden Ohren und großen Hoden und Verhaltensmerkmalen wie stereotypen Bewegungen und sozialer Angst reichen. Das zerbrechliche X-Syndrom ist mit der Expansion der CGG-Trinucleotidwiederholung assoziiert, die das Fragile X-mentale Retardierungs-1-Gen auf dem X-Chromosom beeinflusst, was zu einem Versagen führt, das zerbrechliche X-mentale Retardierungsprotein, das für die normale neuronale Entwicklung erforderlich ist, zu exprimieren. Abhängig von der Länge der CGG-Wiederholung kann ein Allel als normal eingestuft werden, eine Vormischung oder Vollmutation.
