Aggada (aramäisch אַגָּדָה: Geschichten, Überlieferung, Aggadot oder (Ashkenazi) Aggados, auch bekannt als Aggad oder Aggadh) bezieht sich auf die homiletischen und nicht-legalistischen exegetischen Texte in der klassischen rabbinischen Literatur des Judentums, besonders im Talmud und Midrash Im Allgemeinen ist Aggadah ein Kompendium von rabbinischen Predigten, die Folklore, historische Anekdoten, moralische Ermahnungen und praktische Ratschläge in verschiedenen Sphären, von der Wirtschaft bis zur Medizin einschließt. In Bezug auf die Etymologie bedeutet das verwandte Hebräisch: הַגָּדָה, bedeutet "erzählen", während die aramäische Wurzel אגד (sowie נגד, aus denen אגדה entstehen kann) die doppelte Implikation des "Aufweitens" / "Zeichnens" und "Binden" / "Einziehen". Entsprechend kann man die Aggadah als jene Lehren sehen, die dem Leser rabbinische Traditionen vermitteln und gleichzeitig ihr Verständnis des Textes ausbauen und gleichzeitig ihre religiöse Erfahrung und spirituelle Verbindung stärken. Die Wurzel hat auch die Bedeutung "flow", und hier bezieht sich die Übertragung von Ideen.
