Herophilos
Herophilos, manchmal lateinischer Herophilus, war ein griechischer Arzt, der als erster Anatom gilt. Geboren in Chalcedon, verbrachte er die Mehrheit seines Lebens in Alexandria. Er war der erste Wissenschaftler, der systematisch wissenschaftliche Sektionen von menschlichen Kadavern durchführte und seine Erkenntnisse in über neun Werken aufnahm, die alle verloren sind. Er war ein früher Pionier der wissenschaftlichen Methode. Gemeinsam mit Erasistratus gilt er als Begründer der großen medizinischen Schule von Alexandria.
