In der Biologie ist ein Hybrid ein Nachwuchs von zwei Tieren oder Pflanzen verschiedener Rassen, Rassen, Sorten, Arten oder Gattungen. Mit Genetik-Terminologie kann es wie folgt definiert werden. ▪ Im Allgemeinen ist Hybrid gleichbedeutend mit heterozygot: jeglicher Nachwuchs, der aus der Züchtung von zwei genetisch unterschiedlichen Individuen resultiert ▪ ein genetisches Hybrid trägt zwei verschiedene Allele des gleichen Gens ▪ ein strukturelles Hybrid ergibt sich aus der Verschmelzung von Gameten, die unterschiedliche Strukturen aufweisen Mindestens ein Chromosom, als Folge von strukturellen Anomalien ▪ ein numerisches Hybrid ergibt sich aus der Verschmelzung von Gameten mit unterschiedlicher haploider Anzahl von Chromosomen ▪ ein permanenter Hybrid ist eine Situation, in der nur der heterozygote Genotyp auftritt, weil alle homozygoten Kombinationen tödlich sind. Aus einer taxonomischen Perspektive bezieht sich Hybrid auf: ▪ Nachkommen, die sich aus der Interpretation zwischen zwei Tierarten oder Pflanzenarten ergeben. Siehe auch Hybrid-Speziation. ▪ Hybride zwischen verschiedenen Unterarten innerhalb einer Art sind als intra-spezifische Hybride bekannt.
