In der Mathematik sind hyperbolische Funktionen Analoga der gewöhnlichen trigonometrischen oder kreisförmigen Funktionen. Die grundlegenden hyperbolischen Funktionen sind der hyperbolische Sinus "sinh" und der hyperbolische Kosinus "cosh" / kɒʃ /, aus dem die hyperbolische Tangente "tanh", hyperbolische Kosecant "csch" oder "cosech" / koʊʃɛk / or / koʊsɛtʃ / , Hyperbolische Sekante "Sech" / ʃɛk / oder / sɛtʃ / und hyperbolischer Kotangens "coth" / koʊθ / oder / kɒθ /, entsprechend den abgeleiteten trigonometrischen Funktionen. Die inversen hyperbolischen Funktionen sind der Bereich hyperbolic sine "arsinh" und so weiter. So wie die Punkte einen Kreis mit einem Einheitsradius bilden, bilden die Punkte die rechte Hälfte der gleichseitigen Hyperbel. Die hyperbolischen Funktionen nehmen ein echtes Argument namens hyperbolischen Winkel. Die Größe eines hyperbolischen Winkels ist der Bereich seines hyperbolischen Sektors. Die hyperbolischen Funktionen können in den Beinen eines rechten Dreiecks definiert werden, das diesen Sektor abdeckt.
