Capra (Gattung)
Capra ist eine Gattung von Säugetieren, die Ziegen oder wilden Ziegen, bestehend aus bis zu neun Arten, darunter die wilde Ziege, der Marker und mehrere Arten, die als Steinbock bekannt sind. Die heimische Ziege ist eine domestizierte Unterart der wilden Ziege. Der Nachweis der Ziegendomestikation stammt mehr als 8.500 Jahre. Wildziegen sind Tiere von Berglebensräumen. Sie sind sehr wendig und hart, in der Lage, auf nackten Felsen zu klettern und über spärliche Vegetation zu überleben. Sie unterscheiden sich von der Gattung Ovis, die Schafe enthält, durch die Anwesenheit von Duftdrüsen in der Nähe der Füße, in der Leiste und vor den Augen und der Abwesenheit von anderen Gesichtsdrüsen und durch die Anwesenheit eines Bartes In den Männchen und von haarlosen Schwielen auf den Knien der Vorderbeine. Die Rocky Mountain Ziege ist in einer separaten Gattung, Oreamnos.
