Indore (I / ɪndɔər /, Hindi: "इंदौर" (Hilfe · Info)) ist eine Tier-2-Stadt, die größte Stadt des indischen Bundesstaates Madhya Pradesh. Mit einer Volkszählung-geschätzten 2011 Bevölkerung von 2.167.447 verteilt über eine Landfläche von nur (526 km2), ist Indore die dicht besiedelte Großstadt in der zentralen Provinz. Die Bevölkerung des Indore Metropolitan Area ist der größte Staat des Landes, mit 2,2 Millionen Menschen dort leben. Es ist die 14. größte Stadt in Indien und 147. größte Stadt der Welt. Indore verfolgt seine Wurzeln zu seinem 16. Jahrhundert Gründung als Handelsdrehscheibe zwischen dem Deccan und Delhi. Die Stadt und ihre Umgebung kamen unter Maratha Reich am 18. Mai 1724 nach Maratha Peshwa übernahm die volle Kontrolle über Malwa.
