Chamaedaphne
Chamaedaphne calyculata, Lederleaf, ist ein Strauch in der Pflanzenfamilie Ericaceae und die einzige Art in der Gattung Chamaedaphne. Es hat eine breite Verteilung in den kühlen gemäßigten und subarktischen Regionen der nördlichen Hemisphäre. Es ist ein wachsender Strauch bis zu 1,5 m hoch. Die Blätter sind abwechselnd am Zweig angeordnet und elliptisch bis länglich geformt, 3-4 cm lang, dick und ledrig, mit winzigen Schuppen und heller Färbung an der Unterseite und einem ganzen oder unregelmäßig gezahnten Rand. Sie sind immergrün, aber oft im Winter rotbraun. Die Blüten sind klein, weiß und glockenartig, produziert in Rispen bis zu 12 cm lang. Die Art-Seite beschränkt sich auf Moore, wo sie natürlich große Klonkolonien bilden. Der Name Chamaedaphne kommt aus dem Griechischen für "Boden Lorbeer"; Der gemeine name kommt von seinem zähen, lederähnlichen blatt. Leatherleaf wird als Nahrungsmittelpflanze von den Larven von einigen Lepidoptera Arten einschließlich Coleophora ledi benutzt.
