Nishapur
Nishapur oder Nishabur Aussprache, ist eine Stadt in der Provinz Razavi Khorasan, Hauptstadt des Nishapur County und ehemalige Hauptstadt von Khorasan, im nordöstlichen Iran, in einer fruchtbaren Ebene am Fuße des Berges Binalud gelegen. Es hatte eine geschätzte Bevölkerung von 239.185 ab 2011 und seine Grafschaft 433.105. In der Nähe sind die türkisfarbenen Minen, die die Welt mit türkis für mindestens zwei Jahrtausende versorgten. Die Stadt wurde im 3. Jahrhundert von Shapur I als sasanische satrapy Hauptstadt gegründet. Nishapur wurde später die Hauptstadt der Tahirid-Dynastie und wurde von Abdullah Tahir im Jahre 830 reformiert und wurde später als Hauptstadt der Seljuq-Dynastie von Tughril im Jahre 1037 gewählt. Von der Abbasiden-Ära bis zur Mongolen-Invasion von Khwarezmia und dem östlichen Iran entwickelte sich die Stadt zu einem Bedeutendes kulturelles, kommerzielles und intellektuelles Zentrum innerhalb der islamischen Welt.
