Optische Stimmung
Die optimative Stimmung ist eine grammatische Stimmung, die einen Wunsch oder eine Hoffnung anzeigt. Es ähnelt der zusammenhängenden Stimmung und ist eng mit der subjunktiven Stimmung verwandt. Englisch hat keine morphologische Optik, aber es gibt verschiedene Konstruktionen mit optischer Bedeutung. Man benutzt das modale Verb, z.B. Kannst du ein langes Leben haben? Ein anderer nutzt die Phrase, wenn nur mit einem Verb in der Vergangenheit oder Vergangenheit Konjunktiv, z.B. Wenn ich nur reich wäre! Ein anderer verwendet den gegenwärtigen Subjunktiv, z.B. Gott schütze die Königin! Beispiele für Sprachen mit einer optimalen Stimmung sind Altgriechisch, Albanisch, Armenisch, Georgisch, Kurdisch, Navajo, Altpreußen, Sanskrit, Serbo-Kroatisch und Türkisch.

Die erste Definition des Optativs im Wörterbuch gibt die Wahl, Präferenz oder den Wunsch an oder drückt sie aus. Eine andere Definition von optativ bezeichnet eine Stimmung von Verben in Griechisch, Sanskrit usw., die einen Wunsch ausdrücken. Optativ ist auch die Optativstimmung.
