Organismus
Organismus ist die philosophische Perspektive, die das Universum und seine Teile als organische Ganzen und - entweder analog oder buchstäblich - als lebende Organismen betrachtet. Es kann auch mit Holismus sein. Organismus ist eine wichtige Tradition in der Geschichte der Naturphilosophie, wo es als ein lebenswichtiger Strom neben Reduktionismus und Mechanismus geblieben ist, die Ansätze, die die Wissenschaft seit dem siebzehnten Jahrhundert dominiert haben. Plato gehört zu den frühesten Philosophen, um das Universum als ein intelligentes Lebewesen betrachtet zu haben. Der Organismus blühte für eine Periode während der Ära der deutschen Romantik, während welcher Zeit die neue Wissenschaft der Biologie zuerst von Jean-Baptiste Lamarck definiert wurde. Innerhalb der modernen Biowissenschaften ist der Organismus der Ansatz, der die Organisation und nicht die Zusammensetzung der Organismen betont. William Emerson Ritter nutzte den Begriff in diesem Sinne 1919, nach dem er im Laufe des 20. Jahrhunderts gut angenommen wurde.
