Es gibt rund 180 Sprachen auf den Philippinen, die meisten von ihnen gehören der austronesischen Sprachfamilie, mit Tagalog und Cebuano mit der größten Anzahl von Muttersprachlern. Die offiziellen Sprachen der Philippinen sind philippinisch und englisch und die meisten Filipinos sind zweisprachig oder dreisprachig. Die Philippinen waren eine spanische Kolonie für über 300 Jahre, verlassen, was kann man jetzt philippinische Kultur und Menschen halb-hispanicized genannt werden. Unter spanischer Herrschaft umfaßte die meisten philippinischen Bevölkerung den römischen Katholizismus und bewegte sich viele Male zu ihrer Hierarchie. Da weder vergangene Regierungen noch das moderne Nationale Statistikbüro für den Rassenhintergrund eines Individuums verantwortlich sind, ist der genaue Prozentsatz von Filipinos mit spanischer Abstammung unbekannt.
