Polypodium
Polypodium ist eine Gattung von 75-100 Arten von echten Farnen, weit verbreitet in der ganzen Welt, mit der höchsten Artenvielfalt in den Tropen. Der Name stammt aus dem antiken griechischen Poly "vielen" + podion "kleinen Fuß", wegen der fußähnlichen Erscheinung des Rhizoms und seiner Zweige. Sie werden gemeinhin Polypody oder Rockcap Farn genannt, aber für viele Arten gibt es einzigartige Volksnamen. Sori, auf der Rückseite der Broschüre getragen, sind kugelig und nackt wie in diesem Polypodium amorphum. Sie sind terrestrische oder epiphytische Farne, mit einem kriechenden, dicht behaarten oder schuppigen Rhizom, das die Wedel in Intervallen entlang seiner Länge trägt. Die Arten unterscheiden sich in Größe und allgemeinem Aussehen und im Charakter der Wedel, die immergrüne, anhaltende für 1-2 Jahre, gefiederte oder pinnatifid, und von 10-80 cm oder mehr lang. Die sori oder Gruppen von Sporen-Fällen werden auf der Rückseite des Wedels getragen; Sie sind kugelig und nackt, nicht mit einer Membran bedeckt.
