Präzession
Die Präzession ist eine Änderung der Orientierung der Rotationsachse eines rotierenden Körpers. In einem geeigneten Referenzrahmen kann er als eine Änderung des ersten Eulerwinkels definiert werden, während der dritte Eulerwinkel die Drehung selbst definiert. Mit anderen Worten dreht sich die Drehachse eines Präzisionskörpers selbst um eine andere Achse. Eine Bewegung, in der sich der zweite Euler-Winkel ändert, heißt Nutation. In der Physik gibt es zwei Arten von Präzession: Drehmoment-frei und Drehmoment-induziert. In der Astronomie bezieht sich "Präzession" auf irgendwelche von mehreren langsamen Veränderungen in den Rotations- oder Orbitalparametern eines Astronomischen Körpers und insbesondere auf die Präzision der Äquinoktien der Erde.
