Prodrug
Ein Prodrug ist ein Medikament, das in einer inaktiven oder weniger als voll aktiven Form verabreicht wird, und dann wird es durch seine normale Stoffwechselmethode, wie die Hydrolyse einer Esterform des Arzneimittels, in seine aktive Form umgewandelt. Ein Prodrug ist eine vorläufige chemische Verbindung eines Arzneimittels. Anstatt eine Droge zu verabreichen, könnte stattdessen ein Prodrug verwendet werden, um zu verbessern, wie ein Medikament absorbiert, verteilt, metabolisiert und ausgeschieden wird.
