Papageientaucher
Papageientaucher sind alle drei kleinen Arten von alcids in der Vogelgattung Fratercula mit einem bunten Schnabel während der Brutzeit. Das sind pelagische Seevögel, die vor allem durch Tauchen im Wasser fressen. Sie züchten in großen Kolonien auf Küstenklippen oder Offshore-Inseln, nisten in Felsspalten zwischen Felsen oder in Höhlen im Boden. Zwei Arten, der getuftete Papageientaucher und der gehörnte Papageientaucher, befinden sich im Nordpazifik, während der Atlantische Papageientaucher im Nordatlantik liegt. Alle Papageientaucherarten haben überwiegend schwarze oder schwarze und weiße Gefieder, ein stämmiger Bau und große Schnäbel. Sie vergossen die bunten Außenteile ihrer Rechnungen nach der Brutzeit und hinterlassen einen kleineren und düsteren Schnabel. Ihre kurzen Flügel sind zum Schwimmen mit einer fliegenden Technik unter Wasser angepasst. In der Luft schlugen sie ihre Flügel schnell in schnellen Flug, oft fliegen tief über die Ozeanoberfläche.
