Sassolith
Sassolith ist ein Borat-Mineral, und ist die mineralische Form der Borsäure. Es kommt in vulkanischen Fumarolen und heißen Quellen, sowie in gebetteten Sediment-Verdunstung Ablagerungen. Seine mineralische Form wurde erstmals im Jahre 1800 beschrieben und wurde nach Sasso Pisano, Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, Provinz Pisa, Toskana, Italien, wo es gefunden wurde benannt. Das Mineral kann in Lagunen in der Toskana und Sasso gefunden werden. Gewöhnlich farbig weiß bis grau, ist es im Durchlicht farblos und kann auch gelbe Farbe aus Schwefelverunreinigungen oder braun aus Eisenoxiden annehmen.
