Simplex
In der Geometrie ist ein Simplex eine Verallgemeinerung des Begriffs eines Dreiecks oder eines Tetraeders auf beliebige Dimensionen. Speziell ist ein k-Simplex ein k-dimensionales Polytop, welches der konvexe Rumpf seiner k + 1-Ecken ist. In formaler Form ist angenommen, dass die k + 1 Punkte affin unabhängig sind, welche Mittel sind unabhängig voneinander. Dann ist der von ihnen bestimmte Simplex der Satz von Punkten. Zum Beispiel ist ein 2-Simplex ein Dreieck, ein 3-Simplex ist ein Tetraeder und ein 4-Simplex ist ein 5-Zellen. Ein einzelner Punkt kann als ein 0-Simplex betrachtet werden, und ein Liniensegment kann als ein 1-Simplex betrachtet werden. Ein Simplex kann als der kleinste konvexe Satz definiert werden, der die gegebenen Ecken enthält. Ein regelmäßiger Simplex ist ein Simplex, der auch ein regelmäßiges Polytop ist. Ein regulärer n-Simplex kann aus einem regulären -Eplex aufgebaut werden, indem ein neuer Scheitelpunkt mit allen ursprünglichen Scheiteln durch die gemeinsame Kantenlänge verbunden wird.
