Transnistrien
Transnistrien ist ein abtrünniger Zustand, der hauptsächlich auf einem Landstreifen zwischen dem Fluss Dniester und der östlichen moldauischen Grenze mit der Ukraine liegt. Seit ihrer Unabhängigkeitserklärung im Jahr 1990 und vor allem nach dem Krieg von Transnistrien im Jahre 1992 wird es als die pridnestrowische Republik Moldau regiert, ein Staat mit beschränkter Anerkennung, der das Territorium östlich des Flusses Dniester und auch die Stadt Bender und Seine umliegenden Orte am Westufer, in der historischen Region Bessarabien. Die Begriffe "Transnistrien" und "Pridnestrowien" beziehen sich auf den Dnjestr. Unbekannt von einem Mitgliedsstaat der Vereinten Nationen, wird Transnistrien von der Republik Moldau als die transnistrische autonome Gebietseinheit mit besonderer Rechtsstellung oder Stînga Nistrului bezeichnet. Nach der Auflösung der UdSSR eskalierten die Spannungen zwischen der neu geschaffenen Republik Moldau und dem de facto souveränen Staat Pridnestrowien zu einem militärischen Konflikt, der im März 1992 begann und durch einen Waffenstillstand im Juli 1992 abgeschlossen wurde.
