Arithmetischer Unterlauf
Der Begriff arithmetischer Unterlauf ist eine Bedingung in einem Computerprogramm, bei dem das Ergebnis einer Berechnung eine kleinere Zahl ist, als der Computer tatsächlich im Speicher speichern kann. Arithmetischer Unterlauf kann auftreten, wenn das wahre Ergebnis einer Gleitkommaoperation kleiner ist als der kleinste Wert, der als normale Gleitkommazahl im Zieldatentyp darstellbar ist. Unterlauf kann zum Teil als negativer Überlauf des Exponenten des Gleitkommawertes angesehen werden. Wenn zum Beispiel der Exponententeil Werte von -127 bis 127 darstellen kann, kann ein Ergebnis mit einem Absolutwert von weniger als 2-127 einen Unterlauf verursachen.
