In diesem Zusammenhang ist sie Teil eines systematischen Ansatzes zur Unterscheidung zwischen Wahrscheinlichkeitsverteilungen. Während andere solche Ansätze entwickelt wurden, sind jene, die auf Momenten basieren, in Bezug auf mathematische und rechnerische Einfachheit vorteilhaft.
