Al-Quran menyatakan bahawa Injil dan Taurat telah ditahrif oleh penganut-penganutnya yang menyeleweng selepas Nabi Musa wafat dan Nabi Isa diangkat ke langit. Di dalam surah al-Ma'idah, ayat 13 - 14, Allah Taala berfirman yang bermaksud: 13. "Maka dengan sebab mereka mencabuli perjanjian setia mereka, Kami laknatkan mereka, dan kami jadikan hati mereka keras membatu. Mereka sentiasa mengubah Kalimah-kalimah dari tempat-tempatnya yang sebenar, dan mereka melupakan sebahagian dari apa yang diperingatkan mereka dengannya.
