Filmclub Diskussion ist eine Vereinigung von Liebhabern der Filmkunst, zielte auf die Vertiefung der Kenntnisse über die Vereinsmitglieder über die Kunst und ihre Popularisierung. Der Begriff "Filmclub" wurde erstmals 1921 von Germaine Dulac und Ricciotto Canudo verwendet. Der erste Club war die „Movie Freie Tribune“, die er im Jahre 1924 Charles Leger gegründet und der erste Club war ein massiver Verein „Friends of Spartacus' wurde im Jahre 1928 Weitere Länder gegründet, die begann, Filmclubs zu bilden waren Deutschland und die Niederlande. Im Jahr 1947 wurde in Cannes die Internationale Vereinigung der Filmclubs gegründet, eine Vereinigung von Nationalverbänden. In Polen begannen die ersten Filmclubs in der Mitte der 50er Jahre die erste offiziell gegründet DKF-I war, jetzt nicht existent, Warschau „nur“, die die Wochenzeitung mit dem gleichen Namen war zu bilden.

Jednak z założenia DKF nie ogranicza się tylko do takiej formy, uzupełniając projekcje o prelekcje, dyskusje, spotkania z twórcami, publikacje. Ojczyzną ruchu klubów filmowych jest Francja. Terminu "klub filmowy" po raz pierwszy użyli w 1921 r. Germaine Dulac i Ricciotto Canudo. Pierwszym klubem była "Filmowa Wolna Trybuna", którą założył w 1924 roku Charles Leger, a pierwszym klubem masowym był klub "Przyjaciół Spartakusa" założony w 1928 r. Kolejnymi krajami, w których zaczęły powstawać kluby filmowe były Niemcy i Holandia. W 1947 r. powołano do życia w Cannes Międzynarodową Federację Klubów Filmowych, zrzeszającą federacje krajowe. W Polsce pierwsze kluby filmowe zaczęły powstawać w połowie lat 50. Pierwszym formalnie założonym DKF-em był, obecnie nieistniejący, warszawski "po prostu", który powstał przy tygodniku o tej samej nazwie.
