Neufundland ist eine große Insel an der Ostküste Nordamerikas und gleichzeitig der bevölkerungsreichste Teil der kanadischen Provinz Neufundland und Labrador. Wyspa Nowa Fundlandia pierwotnie nazwana została Terra Nova przez Wenecjanina w służbie brytyjskiej, Giovanniego Caboto, w 1497. Prowincja, w skład której wchodzi wyspa, również nosiła nazwę "Nowa Fundlandia" aż do 2001, kiedy to zmieniono ją na "Nowa Fundlandia i Labrador". Nowa Fundlandia jest oddzielona od Półwyspu Labrador cieśniną Belle Isle, a od wyspy Cape Breton cieśniną Cabota. Zamyka ujście rzeki Świętego Wawrzyńca, która tworzy Zatokę Świętego Wawrzyńca. Nowa Fundlandia sąsiaduje z niewielką zbiorowością zamorską Francji – Saint-Pierre i Miquelon. Wyspa ma powierzchnię 111 390 km², co daje jej 15. miejsce na liście wysp świata według powierzchni i 4. miejsce pod tym względem w Kanadzie. Stolica wyspy, St. John's, znajduje się na południowo-wschodnim krańcu wyspy.
