Notos (auch Notus; gr Νότος Notos 'Süden' (Seite der Welt), Lat Notus 'Südwind' Auster 'Südwind', 'Süden'..) - in der griechischen Mythologie der Gott und Verkörperung der Wind Süd, mit dem römischen Auster identifiziert. Er verkörperte einen heißen, feuchten, starken Wind, der aus dem Süden weht und Regen und Nebel trägt. Im alten Griechenland wurde sein Name als eine der Welten bezeichnet - Süd. (; Personifikation des Planeten Venus Hesperos), einige Sterne (die Personifizierung der Sterne), Boreas, Euro, Zephyr, vermutlich Apeliotesa, Kajkiasa, Lipsa, Skiron (Identitätswechsel Winde) Er war der Sohn des Titan Astraeus und Eos und tytanidy und einem Bruder Fosforos betrachtet. Seine Verehrung war unter Seglern und Bauern weit verbreitet. Sie wurden dem schwarzen Schaf und Hahn geopfert. In der Kunst wird als junger Mann mit großen Flügeln an seinen Schultern dargestellt, mit einem Wassertopf. Idee von Gott manifestiert in der Skulptur (Fries des ersten Jahrhunderts vor Christus zeigt acht Winde geflügelten Götter schmücken den Turm der Winde in Athen).

Notos (także Notus; gr. Νότος Nótos ‘południe’ (strona świata), łac. Notus ‘wiatr południowy’, Auster ‘wiatr południowy’, ‘południe’) – w mitologii greckiej bóg i uosobienie wiatru południowego, utożsamiany z rzymskim Austerem. Uosabiał gorący, wilgotny, silny wiatr, wiejący z południa, niosący deszcze i mgły. W starożytnej Grecji jego imieniem oznaczano jedną ze stron świata – południe. Uchodził za syna tytana Astrajosa i i tytanidy Eos oraz za brata Fosforosa (Hesperosa; personifikacji planety Wenus), niektórych gwiazd (personifikacji gwiazd), Boreasza, Eurosa, Zefira, przypuszczalnie także Apeliotesa, Kajkiasa, Lipsa, Skirona (personifikacji wiatrów). Kult jego był rozpowszechniony wśród żeglarzy i rolników. Składano mu w ofierze czarnego barana i koguta. W sztuce przedstawiany jest jako młody mężczyzna z wielkimi skrzydłami u ramion, z naczyniem na wodę. Wyobrażenie o bogu przejawia się w rzeźbie (fryz z I wieku p.n.e. z wizerunkami ośmiu skrzydlatych bogów wiatrów zdobiący Wieżę Wiatrów w Atenach).
