WHAT DOES EXOSPORE MEAN IN GERMAN?

Exospore

As exospore or ectospore is called a special form of the spores, a means for the propagation of bacteria or fungi. They are produced by terminal confinement of daughter cells and do not possess a spore envelope, in contrast to endospores. In the case of thick-walled spherical structures, which are formed from the long-stretched, vegetative bacterial cell, cysts are called. Both exospores and cysts are permanent forms in individual bacterial species. Due to their nearly complete metabolism and their low water content, the exospores are more resistant to dehydration, heat, radiation and chemical stress than the vegetative cell. This is only true for cysts because they are not heat resistant. An exospore-forming agent is, for example, the methane-utilizing bacteria genus Methylosinus, while cysts can occur in the bacterial genera Azotobacter and Methylocystis.

Definition of Exospore in the German dictionary

unlike an endospore, not inside a spore container, but spore formed by constriction on the surface of the thallus; Ektospore.
