Indigestion

Indigestion

Indigestion is a disorder of the normal activity of the gastrointestinal tract. It is an unspecified term which includes various causes and symptoms. The causes of an indigestion can be infections, chronic inflammatory diseases, autoimmune diseases, disturbances of motility, changes in the intestinal flora, disorders of the secretion of the glands of the gastrointestinal tract as well as foreign bodies. Psychosomatic disorders can also cause indigestion. A reduction in gastric motion and a change in gastric juice is called dyspepsia. Disorders of enzymatic digestion are referred to as maldigestion, which is the absorption of nutrients in the gut as malabsorption. Clinically, an indigestion usually manifests itself through stomach pain, nausea and discomfort as well as changes in the stool. With a longer duration, there is a lack of nutrients and an emaciation.
