WHAT DOES NEURON MEAN IN GERMAN?

nerve cell

A nerve cell or a neuron is a cell specialized in excitation conduction and excitation transmission, which occurs as a cell type in tissue embryos and thus in almost all multicellular animals. The totality of all the nerve cells of an animal together with the glial cells form the nervous system. A typical mammalian nerve cell has a cell body and cell extensions of two types: the dendrites and the neurites or the axon. The ramified dendrites mainly take excitement from other cells. The neurite of a neuron, surrounded by glial cells, is axon, can be over one meter in length, and serves first of all to direct the excitation of this cell into the vicinity of other cells. A change in the voltage is passed through the process by permitting short-term ionic currents through special channels in the cell membrane. The axon ends are in contact with other nerve cells, muscle cells, or gland cells, via synapses, in which the excitation is rarely directly transmitted electrically, but is usually chemically transmitted by means of messengers. Some nerve cells can also release signals into the bloodstream,
