Ochrea

The ochrea or tute is a mostly membranous tube, which is formed by the transformation of the lower limb, which surrounds the base of the following stem-member. Knotweed plants are an example of an ochrea. The expression was used for the first time in 1798 by Carl Ludwig Willdenow. Die Ochrea oder Tute ist eine durch die Umbildung des Unterblatts entstandene, meist häutige Röhre, welche die Basis des folgenden Stängelglieds umschließt. Knöterichgewächse bilden als Beispiel eine Ochrea. Verwendet wurde der Ausdruck zum ersten Mal im Jahr 1798 von Carl Ludwig Willdenow.
